PEACEHEALTH SOUTHWEST NAMES DR. R. SCOTT RUSHING MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF GYN/ONCOLOGY SERVICES

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Oct. 27, 2015. PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is pleased to share a new leadership role for Gynecologic Oncology Services.

Scott Rushing, MD, GYN oncologist and surgeon at Compass Oncology, has accepted the role of Medical Director for PHSW GYN/Oncology. In this new role, Dr. Rushing will oversee formalization of an improved structure that will help expand women’s services to meet the needs of our community.

Under Dr. Rushing’s leadership, PHSW plans development of a more integrated approach to care for complex GYN procedures and GYN-oncology surgeries.

“I am excited to be directly involved with developing an improved standard of care for women in our community who are facing challenging diagnoses,” said Dr. Rushing. “This will involve an analysis of the progression of care, such as the connectivity between surgery to pathology to laboratories, and a review of best practices and surgical techniques.”

Dr. Rushing was key to the introduction of robotic surgery in Clark County. We look forward to working with him in this new role to continue growing the surgical applications for robotics at the Medical Center, as well as expansion of specialty women’s services in our community.
