Dancing with N.E.D. follows an unconventional band of six GYN surgeons determined to break the silence surrounding the deadly cancers they treat daily: loudly and with plenty of emotion—through rock-n-roll. Named after the four words every cancer patient craves hearing, “No Evidence of Disease,” N.E.D. is on a mission, using their original music and lyrics to make some noise. Dr. Will Winter, gynecologic oncologist at Compass Oncology in Portland, is one of the surgeons in the band. The documentary includes footage from Portland following Dr. Winter in his practice as well as during the band’s performance at the Aladdin in January 2011.
Proceeds from this event will go to Marjiesfund, located in Lake Oswego, and incorporated in the State of Oregon as a nonprofit corporation with 501(c)3 status. This fund supports gynecological cancer research, early detection initiatives and community education and outreach. Marjiesfund supports N.E.D. as well as Spark Media.
Six Degrees, the new CD from N.E.D. is now officially available at CD Baby for $14.97. CD Baby is graciously contributing $2 for each CD sold to Marjie’s Fund to support gynecologic cancer research and awareness. Six Degrees is also available to download on iTunes. N.E.D. performing live at the Rhythm Heals benefit concert Northwest Cancer Specialists and N.E.D. joined hands at the Rhythm Heals benefit concert October 25 at Portland's Historic Crystal Ballroom with a mission to enhance knowledge about gynecologic cancers. The event was a tremendous success with over 500 people attending and raising nearly $40,000. All proceeds will be donated to the N.E.D. Fund at Marjie’s Fund, a Lake Oswego-based Foundation who works closely with the band and is dedicated to educating the public about gynecologic cancers, promoting early detection and supporting promising research. NCS would like to thank everyone who came together in support of this great cause. As the pink ribbon is to breast cancer so is N.E.D. to the fight against gynecologic cancer.
